Kody Clemens
Kody Clemens First career multi-homer game
Fri, Sep 12, 2025, 10:34 PM
Clemens went 4-for-4 with three home runs, five RBI, a double and an additional run scored in a 9-8 win over Arizona on Friday.
Analysis: It was the first career multi-homer game for Clemens, who also established a career high in RBI. The lefty-hitting Clemens should continue to see the bulk of the reps at first base for the Twins to wrap up the campaign, especially if he continues to perform well. While he's hitting just .236 over his last 17 outings, Clemens has six big flies, one double and 10 RBI over that stretch to improve his OPS to .740 for the season.
Cole Sands
Cole Sands Escapes with win in blown save
Fri, Sep 12, 2025, 10:23 PM
Sands (4-4) blew the save but came away with the win Friday against the Diamondbacks, striking one while allowing four runs on four hits in one inning.
Analysis: Though Sands matched a season worst in runs allowed while taking his fourth blown save of the year, the Twins were able to mount a ninth-inning rally to bail out the hurler and get him his fourth win of the season. Justin Topa (oblique) is out for at least two weeks while on the 15-day injured list, but Sands didn't help his case Friday for future save chances. Through 65.1 frames, Sands has a 4.27 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 58:16 K:BB.
Justin Topa
Justin Topa On IL with oblique injury
Fri, Sep 12, 2025, 2:31 PM
The Twins placed Topa on the 15-day injured list Friday due to a left oblique strain.
Analysis: Topa was removed from Sunday's game with left knee discomfort, but he'll head to the injured list Friday with a different ailment. The 34-year-old has been serving as a high-leverage arm since Jhoan Duran was dealt to the Phillies. He's blown two of his six save chances during that stretch and has allowed seven runs (six earned) across his last nine appearances. Cody Laweryson was brought up from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Cole Sands, Kody Funderburk and Michael Tonkin are candidates for save chances.
Byron Buxton
Byron Buxton Clubs 31st homer
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 7:32 PM
Buxton went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Angels.
Analysis: Hitting leadoff and getting the nod at DH after missing Monday's game due to a knee bruise, Buxton got hold of a 97.5 mph fastball from Jose Fermin in the sixth inning and drove it over the right-field fence to tie the game at 3-3. It was the veteran center fielder's 31st homer of the season as he adds to a new career high, and his sixth in his last 12 contests -- a stretch in which Buxton is batting .333 (15-for-45) with three doubles, three triples, three steals, 11 runs and 14 RBI.
James Outman
James Outman Goes yard again
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 7:27 PM
Outman went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Angels.
Analysis: Batting ninth and getting the start in center field while Byron Buxton handled DH duties, Outman took Jose Urena deep in the third inning to get the Twins on the board. The 28-year-old outfielder has homered in back-to-back starts for his first long balls with his new club, but his contact issues have followed him from the Dodgers -- over his last 12 games he's batting just .206 (7-for-34) with a 3:14 BB:K.
Taj Bradley
Taj Bradley Delivers quality start in Anaheim
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 7:23 PM
Bradley came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Angels, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: All three runs off the right-hander came in the third inning, highlighted by a two-run blast from Zach Neto, and Bradley showed flashes of dominance by racking up 18 swinging strikes among his 98 pitches (57 total strikes). The quality start was his first in four outings for the Twins, but over 21.1 innings for his new team he has a shaky 6.33 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB. Bradley will look to build on this performance in his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Yankees.
David Festa
David Festa Could have thoracic outlet syndrome
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 1:46 PM
Festa was diagnosed with neurological thoracic outlet syndrome during a visit with Dr. Keith Meister in Texas this week, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Festa will receive a second opinion before a determination is made about a treatment plan, but surgery would certainly seem to be a possibility. If the pitcher does need an operation, he would be in for a lengthy rehab process that could affect his 2026 availability. Festa posted a 5.40 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 53:19 K:BB over 53.1 innings for the Twins this season.
James Outman
James Outman Losing playing time to Martin
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 1:42 PM
Outman will start in center field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Angels.
Analysis: Though he'll stick in the lineup Wednesday while normal center fielder Byron Buxton serves as the Twins' designated hitter, the left-handed-hitting Outman had been on the bench in four of the Twins' previous six matchups with right-handed starting pitchers and looks to have moved into a fourth-outfielder role. Austin Martin has produced a .945 OPS since the start of September and has usurped Outman as the team's top option in left field.
Austin Martin
Austin Martin Emerging as top left fielder
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 1:38 PM
Martin will start in left field and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Angels.
Analysis: Martin will cover left field for the fourth straight game and appears to have emerged as the Twins' preferred option at the position over James Outman. Since the start of September, Martin has slashed .385/.484/.462 with two doubles, a 5:4 BB:K and six runs.
Brooks Lee
Brooks Lee Day off Wednesday
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 12:08 PM
Lee is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Angels.
Analysis: Lee went hitless in the first two games of the series and has gone just 6-for-42 across his last 11 tilts, so he'll get a breather in Wednesday's finale. Ryan Fitzgerald will occupy shortstop and bat eighth for the Twins.
Matt Wallner
Matt Wallner Grabbing seat Wednesday
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 12:05 PM
Wallner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.
Analysis: Wallner has had a great second half but has struggled lately, going 5-for-39 with 17 strikeouts over his last 11 contests. He'll get a day off to regroup, clearing the way for Trevor Larnach to pick up a start in right field.
Brooks Kriske
Brooks Kriske Outrighted to Triple-A
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 8:28 AM
The Twins outrighted Kriske to Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday.
Analysis: Kriske passed through waivers after being booted off the 40-man roster. The right-handed reliever has the ability to decline the outright assignment and elect free agency, but it's unclear whether he intends to exercise that right or accept the assignment.
Zebby Matthews
Zebby Matthews Tagged for five runs in fifth loss
Tue, Sep 9, 2025, 11:25 PM
Matthews (4-5) took the loss Tuesday against the Angels, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks in 4.2 innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: The five runs allowed were Matthews' most since July 30 versus Boston. The 25-year-old right-hander has now failed to throw at least five frames in seven of his 14 outings this season, and he's also walked multiple batters in four of his last five appearances. Matthews will carry a 5.06 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 80:22 K:BB over 69.1 innings into his next start, which lines up for next week in a tough spot against the Yankees.
Kody Clemens
Kody Clemens Resting Tuesday
Tue, Sep 9, 2025, 5:45 PM
Clemens isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.
Analysis: Clemens will grab a seat on the bench Tuesday after beginning September 4-for-21 with two homers and an additional RBI and run scored through seven games. His absence will allow Edouard Julien to pick up a start at first base while batting eighth.
Byron Buxton
Byron Buxton Back in action Tuesday
Tue, Sep 9, 2025, 5:41 PM
Buxton (knee) will start in center field and bat leadoff against the Angels on Tuesday.
Analysis: Buxton was forced to miss Monday's series opener after taking a pitch off his left knee Sunday against the Royals, but his absence will be limited to just one game. The 31-year-old officially achieved a 30-homer season for the first time in his career Sunday, and he'll aim to maintain his momentum Tuesday against Kyle Hendricks, who enters the game with a 4.81 ERA on the year.
Byron Buxton
Byron Buxton Not in Monday's lineup
Mon, Sep 8, 2025, 5:33 PM
Buxton (knee) is not in the Twins' starting lineup against the Angels on Monday.
Analysis: Buxton is nursing a left knee contusion that he suffered against the Royals on Sunday, when his knee was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning. Austin Martin, James Outman and Matt Wallner will start in the Twins' outfield from left to right for Monday's series opener due to Buxton's injury.
Emmanuel Rodriguez
Emmanuel Rodriguez Returning from injured list
Mon, Sep 8, 2025, 1:46 PM
Triple-A St. Paul activated Rodriguez (oblique) from its 7-day injured list Monday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Rodriguez has been sidelined since late July with an oblique strain, but he's returned to St. Paul's active roster following a five-game rehab stint with Single-A Fort Myers. The 22-year-old has had yet another season curtailed by injury, as he's been limited to only 56 contests because of thumb, hip and oblique problems.
Genesis Cabrera
Genesis Cabrera Notches save Sunday
Sun, Sep 7, 2025, 5:08 PM
Cabrera pitched a scoreless third of an inning, allowing one walk, to collect the save in Sunday's 5-1 win against Kansas City.
Analysis: After reliever Justin Topa allowed two batters to reach in the ninth, Cabrera was called upon to secure the final out of this contest. The veteran southpaw walked the first batter faced before inducing a Mike Yastrzemski flyout to wrap the game. Cabrera, who joined Minnesota on Aug. 17 after being released by Pittsburgh, tallied his sixth career save but does not figure to garner many future opportunities given the Twins' recent fortunes along with his current middle relief role.
Luke Keaschall
Luke Keaschall Pilfers pair of bases
Sun, Sep 7, 2025, 5:01 PM
Keaschall went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Sunday's 5-1 victory at Kansas City.
Analysis: The Minnesota rookie was credited with a swiping home on double-steal attempt in the sixth to give his team a 4-0 lead. Since returning from a forearm injury Aug. 5, Keaschall has produced like a star for the Twins, batting .313 (36-for-115) with four homers, six steals, 20 RBI and 15 runs scored across 29 contests. Overall, the 23-year-old is now slashing .321/.405/.485 with 11 stolen bases, 22 RBI and 19 runs scored in 153 total plate appearances.
Bailey Ober
Bailey Ober Finally victorious again
Sun, Sep 7, 2025, 4:54 PM
Ober (5-7) earned the win Sunday at Kansas City, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over 5.1 innings with six strikeouts.
Analysis: The Minnesota right-hander tallied a victory for the first time since May 3, going 0-6 with a 5.91 ERA in 85.1 frames across 16 starts over that span. Ober's main issue during that stretch was the long ball, as he coughed up 24 -- good for a 2.5 HR/9 -- in that time. Sunday marked his first homerless performance in his last five appearances. Overall, the 30-year-old has now pitched to a 5.08 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 105:28 K:BB across 129.1 total innings. Ober currently projects to make his next start at home against Arizona next weekend.
