Harrison Bader
Harrison Bader Exits second game with injury
Wed, May 14, 2025, 3:41 PM
Bader was removed from the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader in Baltimore in the third inning due to an undisclosed injury, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Bader grounded out in the top of the third inning before being replaced in center field for the bottom of the frame. It's not clear what he's dealing with, but Bader was visited by the trainer in the first game Wednesday after sliding into the side following a catch. He stayed in that contest but might have aggravated something in the second game. The Twins should have more on Bader's condition shortly.
Royce Lewis
Royce Lewis On bench for second game of day
Wed, May 14, 2025, 2:54 PM
Lewis is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Orioles.
Analysis: Lewis is just over a week removed from returning from a long stint on the injured list due to a hamstring strain, so the Twins are seemingly just giving him some rest in the second half of the twin bill. He started at third base in the Twins' 6-3 win in Game 1, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
Carlos Correa
Carlos Correa Rests for second half of twin bill
Wed, May 14, 2025, 2:52 PM
Correa is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Orioles.
Analysis: Correa will receive some routine maintenance after he played nine innings at shortstop and went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the Twins' 6-3 victory in the first game of the day. Brooks Lee will get the nod at shortstop for Game 2.
Ty France
Ty France Exits game with foot contusion
Wed, May 14, 2025, 12:47 PM
France was removed during the fifth inning of the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader in Baltimore with a left foot contusion, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. He went 0-for-3 at the plate prior to his departure.
Analysis: France grounded out in the top of the fifth inning before being replaced on defense prior to the bottom of the frame. The Twins could have more information on France's status in between games, but France will likely sit out the second leg of the twin bill, at the very least.
Kody Funderburk
Kody Funderburk Moves up to big club
Wed, May 14, 2025, 10:01 AM
The Twins recalled Funderburk from Triple-A St. Paul ahead of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Orioles.
Analysis: Minnesota is designating Funderburk as its 27th man for the twin bill, so he'll presumably head back to St. Paul after the second game of the day concludes. The 28-year-old southpaw has previously made two relief appearances for the Twins this season, giving up two earned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out five over four innings.
Ryan Jeffers
Ryan Jeffers Sitting out early game
Wed, May 14, 2025, 8:20 AM
Jeffers is not in the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader in Baltimore.
Analysis: Jeffers will likely start behind the plate in the second game of the twin bill. Christian Vazquez will handle catching duties and bat ninth in the first game of the day.
Kody Funderburk
Kody Funderburk Will be 27th man Wednesday
Tue, May 13, 2025, 3:39 PM
The Twins will recall Funderburk from Triple-A St. Paul to serve as the 27th man during Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Orioles, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Funderburk has made two relief appearances at the major-league level this season, surrendering two runs with a 5:1 K:BB across four innings. He'll likely be returned to St. Paul after the twin bill.
Simeon Woods Richardson
Simeon Woods Richardson Twins-Orioles rained out
Tue, May 13, 2025, 2:06 PM
Woods Richardson will have his next start pushed back after Tuesday's game in Baltimore was postponed due to rain.
Analysis: The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Wednesday. Woods Richardson will take the mound in the second contest, while Bailey Ober will start the first game.
Trevor Larnach
Trevor Larnach Grabbing seat Tuesday
Tue, May 13, 2025, 1:50 PM
Larnach is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Baltimore.
Analysis: It's the first day off since April 19 for Larnach, who occupied the designated-hitter spot for each of the Twins' previous four contests. Royce Lewis will be the DH on Tuesday, while Jonah Bride will handle third base.
Michael Tonkin
Michael Tonkin Rehab paused due to biceps injury
Sun, May 11, 2025, 9:47 PM
Tonkin (shoulder) has developed biceps tendinitis during his rehab assignment and will receive an injection, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: It's not clear what treatment he'll receive for the tendinitis, but this will be a significant setback. He was nearing the end of his 30-day rehab stint in the minors, so he'll need to start the process again when healthy. Tonkin suffered a right shoulder strain early in spring training and began the season on the injured list. He had made six rehab outings before developing the biceps issue.
Royce Lewis
Royce Lewis Breaks out of slump
Sun, May 11, 2025, 9:35 PM
Lewis went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Sunday's 7-6 win over San Francisco. He ended an 0-for-13 slump to begin the season.
Analysis: Lewis slumped at the end of last season as well, so he was 0-for-36 since last September before Sunday. Lewis missed the team's first 35 games after suffering a strained hamstring late in spring training. He may finally be shaking off the rust with Sunday's performance.
Pablo Lopez
Pablo Lopez Yields four runs
Sun, May 11, 2025, 9:00 PM
Lopez did not factor in the decision during Sunday's extra-inning win over the Giants. He allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings.
Analysis: Lopez gave up one run through three frames before Heliot Ramos took him deep for a two-run shot in the fourth inning. It was the first home run allowed by Lopez since April 2. Lopez threw 55 of 91 pitches for strikes and walked multiple batters for just the second time this season. He's produced only two quality starts in seven appearances this season despite registering a strong 2.77 ERA through 39 innings. Lopez is projected to start in Milwaukee next weekend.
Brooks Lee
Brooks Lee Goes deep in win
Sun, May 11, 2025, 8:10 PM
Lee went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three runs scored in Sunday's extra-inning win over the Giants.
Analysis: Lee put the Twins on the board with his two-run shot in the fourth inning. It was his third home run of the year and first since April 30. He later singled and scored in the sixth and 10th innings. Lee had gone 9-for-46 (.196) with one multi-hit performance over his previous 13 games entering Sunday. He's now slashing .253/.301/.402 with seven extra-base hits through 26 games.
Carlos Correa
Carlos Correa Exiting starting nine Sunday
Sun, May 11, 2025, 10:36 AM
Correa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: The Twins' initial lineup included Correa, but the team has elected to give the 30-year-old his first day off since April 16 instead. With Correa on the bench, Brooks Lee will slide over to shortstop and Kody Clemens will enter the lineup at second base.
Ryan Jeffers
Ryan Jeffers Not starting Saturday
Sat, May 10, 2025, 1:23 PM
Jeffers isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Jeffers will get a chance to regroup Saturday after going 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts during Friday's series opener. Christian Vazquez will catch for Joe Ryan and bat ninth.
Danny Coulombe
Danny Coulombe Registers rare save Friday
Fri, May 9, 2025, 10:41 PM
Coulombe picked up the save in Friday's 3-1 win over the Giants after throwing a clean ninth inning. He struck out two.
Analysis: With closer Jhoan Duran and setup man Griffin Jax both having worked each of the past two days, Coulombe was summoned to safeguard Friday's victory and extended his scoreless streak to 15.1 innings to open the campaign. The left-hander boasts a 17:1 K:BB with two holds and two saves this season, although he remains behind Duran, Jax and perhaps even Cole Sands in Minnesota's bullpen hierarchy when it comes to high-leverage work on most occasions.
Chris Paddack
Chris Paddack Flirts with perfection in first win
Fri, May 9, 2025, 9:32 PM
Paddack (1-3) earned the win Friday against the Giants after allowing one run on three hits and no walks in 7.1 innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: Paddack had a perfect game going through 5.2 innings, but Christian Koss' sixth-inning single spoiled that bid. Even so, it was the longest outing of the year for the veteran right-hander, who also tied his season high with six punchouts. After giving up 12 runs over his first 7.1 innings in 2025, Paddack has tossed at least five frames and yielded two runs or fewer in five of his last six appearances. He sports a 2.51 ERA and 26:10 K:BB across 32.1 innings during this period, offering him plenty of momentum ahead of his next scheduled start against the scuffling Orioles.
Jose Miranda
Jose Miranda Back in action at Triple-A
Fri, May 9, 2025, 3:38 PM
Miranda (hand) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Miranda is in St. Paul's lineup at third base Friday after missing the previous month with a strained left hand. He hit just .167 over 12 games with the Twins prior to his demotion in mid-April.
Royce Lewis
Royce Lewis Out of lineup Friday
Fri, May 9, 2025, 2:13 PM
Lewis is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Lewis made his season debut Tuesday and started all three games against the Orioles, going 0-for-9 with one strikeout and one walk. He'll get a breather against Giants right-hander Jordan Hicks. Brooks Lee is making the start at third base and batting in the cleanup spot for Minnesota.
Jhoan Duran
Jhoan Duran Locks down sixth save
Thu, May 8, 2025, 4:13 PM
Duran earned the save in Thursday's 5-2 win over Baltimore, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.
Analysis: Duran is now 6-for-6 in save chances to start the year. The right-hander has been impressive in the early going, allowing just one earned run in his last 17 innings. Duran's ERA now sits at 1.04 with a 0.98 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB across 18 appearances (17.1 innings) this season.
